Welcome to Workplace Dignity, a movement towards infusing dignity and respect in the working environment. Through blogging and posting educational resources about the latest events in employment law, human resources best practices, and how to use alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms to help ensure a happy and productive workforce, it is the hope and desire of this forum that the workplace can be eradicated of bullying, harassing, discriminatory and retaliatory behavior that is detrimental to employers and employees alike.
This site is not intended to be pro-employee or pro-employer. It is merely intended to inform and inspire. While some information posted here might appear slanted one way or the other, the intent is merely to shed light on a perceived problem in the workplace and perhaps suggest ways to improve and/or correct it. The ultimate goal is for all people to be able to work free of harassment and for all employers to be able to operate their business free of problematic behaviors.
This site captures my passion about a topic that I have spent a large majority of my professional life exploring, and that I currently educate people about as a law professor teaching mediation, arbitration and negotiation. From my days as line manager dealing with both routine and complex employee concerns head-on, to my days as an HR employee relations representative and manager attempting to balance the competing interests between the manager and employee, to my days as an attorney (both as a defense attorney with a large regional firm and later as a plaintiff oriented solo-practitioner) attempting to help the parties reach an amicable resolution, I have dedicated myself to mediating successful resolutions to complex employment situations. It is this well-rounded background that has provided the impetus for this site and has allowed me to travel the country mediating disputes and speaking to organizations about workplace harmony issues. I hope you gather valuable information and insight from this site!
